This is a single layer corset, made with a beautiful ivory cotton and viscose coutil with gold rose design. It has a gold coloured steel busk (front fastening) and gold coloured eyelets at the back. It is fastened at the back with a gold double faced satin ribbon. It has a mixture of flat and spiral steel bones, and a cotton waist tape for strength and stability. The approximate measurements are:
under bust - 84cm
waist -79 cm
hip -92 cm
centre front and back height - 31cm
These are the measurements of the garment itself, but it's designed to be worn with a gap at the back, so will fit someone roughly a UK size 16.
These corsets represent my steep learning curve in the corset making world. With this pattern, borrowed from an extant corset from around 1890, I hope I'm offering a shape which will be flattering and easy to wear.
The gold roses woven into this cotton coutil are made from viscose and shine beautifully, catching the light. Just as beautiful on the inside as the outside, I think the colour is enhanced by the beautiful strawberry blonde of my model, Emma's hair. This wonderful fabric is glamorous enough to be worn for a special occasion as outer wear, or as luxurious underwear.
