Description

I made the cover of this sewing needle case from a panel of gorgeous hand embroidery rescued from a vintage cloth.

I printed the word 'Needles' onto cotton fabric and appliquéd this to the front, bordered by a piece of pink Liberty print, and then added a sprinkle of buttons.

Close the case by winding the cream ribbon around the silver finish button. There's a little silver tone cone to neaten the end of the ribbon.

Lined with a ditsy floral cotton print, with two pages of white felt to hold needles.

When closed the case measure about 8.5cm x 13cm. It is lightly padded with cotton quiter's wadding.

Inspiration

If I find embroidered linen that cannot be restored or repaired, I like to use the salvageable pieces to make new items so that the embroidery can be enjoyed for a while longer.
