Peace, luck – and of course kissing! Beautiful, mysterious mistletoe, with its evergreen leaves and pearlescent berries, has played its part in winter customs for a very long time.

So here’s a spectacular sprig of mistletoe to hang in your home. A wonderful decoration for winter, solstice, Yule, Christmas… or any time. This piece will last and last, a treasure to bring out fresh every year.

I created it using free machine embroidery in subtly shaded green thread on dissolvable fabric. Fine wire is stitched inside both stems and leaves, so the piece can be bent into 3D arrangements. Glass pearl beads are hand stitched on for berries.

Its size depends on how the wire is bent, perhaps 4” (10cm) wide and 3” (8cm) high when laid out flat, and 2.5” (6-7cm) when arranged in 3D. It has a built-in loop at the top, and comes with red organza ribbon threaded through for hanging. You could easily replace this with any ribbon, chain or thread to suit your home. You could even wear it around your neck, or hang it in your car!
