Harley the handmade, knitted hedgehog is full of character and loved by my own daughter (1 year old) who giggles when he waves at her and sniffs her face!

Knitted and sewn entirely by hand.
Embroidered nose, felt ear details and felt eyes for toddler safety.
Ribbed cuff around the bottom edge of the puppet.

Fits most hand sizes well, even my partner's large hands! A child of 6 or 7 plus could handle it well enough.

I loved hand puppets as a child, particularly animals. I preferred them to teddies, because I could bring them to life and get so much expression out of them! The birth of my daughter inspired me to try making some for her to grow up with and enjoy. I was already a capable knitter, so decided to go off-pattern and try to develop a knitted design of my own. This hedgehog took a few attempts, but I'm finally happy with how he looks.

When I was a child, I had a hedgehog glove puppet called Snuffles that went everywhere with me. We had a lot of adventures - we won a talent contest together as a magic duo. On a visit to the zoo, Snuffles was grabbed by an otter and suffered a lot of damage which my mother tried to fix!
Years later, I wanted my daughter to have one too. Unfortunately, I found they're no longer available, so I set to work knitting, as that is what I know. The original Snuffles wasn't knitted, but made up of sewn fabric, and had plastic eyes so Harley has a very different look! But my daughter adores him...
