This is an original linocut printed in black and white inspired by my surroundings in Norfolk. It I from a limited edition of 50 and is signed at the bottom of the print. Print measurements are 24.5cm x 21cm and paper size is 34cm x 30cm. This is a unique design, fine in detail and is provided unmounted and unframed. The linocut approach involves cutting a design on the surface of a lino block and with a colour image two or more blocks have to be cut, all of which takes a considerable amount of time. Proofs are then made before the final design is finished. Printing ink is rolled onto the surface of the lino and pressure is provided by a relief printing press adhering the image to a sheet of paper. It is only possible to make one print at a time and each print is therefore unique and may vary slightly from others.

Foxes are rarely seen close up but the sight of a fox moving away into the distance is always spellbinding. In the black and white version of this image I wanted to render the detail of the fox's coat and the features of his rather beautiful face. With this coloured version I wanted to capture the wonderful colour of his coat as well.
