This is an original coloured linocut printed in blue and burnt sienna inspired by the natural world here in Norfolk. It is from a limited edition of 50 and is signed at the bottom of the print. Print measurements are 27cm x 23.5cm and paper size is 35cm x 29.5 cm. This is a unique design, fine in detail and is provided unmounted and unframed. The linocut approach involves cutting a design on the surface of a lino block which takes a considerable amount of time. Proofs are then made before the final design is finished. Printing ink is rolled onto the surface of the lino and pressure is provided by a relief printing press adhering the image to a sheet of paper. It is only possible to make one print at a time and each print is therefore unique.

Inspiration comes from the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us here in Norfolk. I also have an interest in seeing how effectively I can render the fine detail of wildlife - in this case the spines which protect the hedgehog and make him hard to handle and the details of his nose and whiskers.
