Tagua nuts are one of the more ethical products on the market now as they are not only decreasing the need for deforestation, they are replacing animal ivory in the fashion industry.
Around 35,000 indigenous people of South America are being employed in the tagua nut industry. These people are less needing to rely on cutting down rainforest to create farmland so they can eat. The nut this pendant came from was harvested in Equador where it was then dried, sliced, polished and dyed with fabric colouring.
