Item details

Rabbie Burns, is the Scottish bard, a hero in Scotland’s literature with many of his songs and poems still popular to this day. Combining this delicate hand drawn braid in the shape of the infinity symbol adds a new dimension to this poem about the longevity of lasting love.

Hair has long been used throughout the histories of many cultures throughout the world. In the People’s Palace in Glasgow there are hair engagement/wedding rings which were made out of your betrotheds cut of hair. Similarly it’s tradition to keep a lock of your wee ones hair-their first curl. Men went to war and took a lock of their loved ones hair to feel close to them and of course in Victorian times people had intricate mourning jewellery created with their loved ones hair. Often these gold and silver pieces featured a window where the hair was braided and set under glass sometimes in a simple weave or even in intricate wee pictures
