The yarn used is one of only 10 skeins, hand-painted, making this shawl a truly OOAK piece.
The delicate colours, soft luminous pinks, pale cool blues, ivory etc gave the impression of sea shells. Those fascinating colours on the inside of the conical shells found on the beach as a child, beautiful, smooth and so fragile. I wanted to reflect this in the stitch pattern, the centre of the shawl being the damp sand with all the undulations and tiny footprints of passing animals, being washed by the gentle waves of the incoming tide, leaving the shells exposed and shining on the beach.
