Turned on a traditional, foot powered pole-lathe.

Medium sized wooden bowl in oak. This bowl is ideal for fruit, cereals, salads, pasta...., turned on a pole-lathe to a high standard. Outside walls stained in royal blue. Blue is such a beautiful color and it brings me joy to stain the walls of my bowls to make them special.

turning green oak is always lovely. It is such a dense wood and cutting usually takes about double the amount time spend on a bowl. Whilst turning you get this fantastic smell, unique to oak. It feels heavy, even after drying and gives a sense of solidity and strength. Well, it's English oak after all.

There is a tiny bit of burr and I had to put two copper staples - just like in the old days when a bowl showed a slight crack. This makes it a unique bowl with a distinct feature.

This is cut from a 600 year old oak tree that stood next to Ratty Railway line and was taken down, sadly, two years ago. The tree now lives on in a different form.
