Stained Glass Sky Textile Art

This is an original design made by myself crafted from recycled silk and organza scarves, bought from my local charity shops

I start with a cotton background,
I then placed strips of orange/ red/ pink/ gold/blue/green silks onto the cotton and then added free machine embroidery to give texture and detail

The final layer is rayon thread embroidered on top

The picture shimmers and glistens when it catches the light.

I stretched the piece onto an artists canvas

The canvas size is 20" x 8 "
(51cm x 21cm ) approx.

A local landmark , Laughton Church, inspired this textile art
I enjoyed creating the sky with all its tones and moods.

It was made from silk and organza which gives the picture a glistening and shimmering effect
I love to work with recycled silk and organza scarves which I buy from my local charity shops
