Large, oval ceramic dish with an enclosed pond feature. Rich in colour, and brimming with interest, this vessel has both 3 dimensional sculpture and also bas relief. A frog sits peacefully on a water lily at the waters edge. Around it swim Koi carp whilst in the air a fleeting moment passes with the flight of a dragonfly.This intriguing sculpture is entirely hand made in white stoneware. Several layers of under-glaze are used; each having a separate firing to deepen the colour. Eventually a layer of transparent glaze is applied to give an overall sheen. w: 26cm x 34cm D; 10cm

I am always drawn to water and the nature around it. The animals here visit us just briefly. Fleetingly they give us a glimpse into their world. It is a world barely noticed yet greatly appreciated. In my search for serenity I created an indoor pond scene, one I could visit at any given time and not just in my dreams.
