A contemporary bead embroidered pendant, featuring a hand-cut and polished petrified dinosaur bone cabochon. The cabochon is surrounded by individually stitched seed beads, with a decorative bead embroidered background of more seed beads and dyed freshwater pearls, and highlights of iron pyrite (fool's gold) nuggets. The unique pendant is backed with ultrasuede, has a hole within the main structure to loop through your own necklace or the brown synthetic suede thong provided(please add a note at checkout if you would prefer black and I will swap).
The pendant is 7cm tall, 4.5cm at the base and 1.7 at the top. The thong hangs 84cm (which is very long, allowing you to knot and cut at a length of your choice).
This was handmade by me at home in London, England, and forms the beginning of a series of contemporary bead embroidered fossil and mineral brooches, rings and pendants designed to highlight the natural loveliness of the rocks around us. The series will take me back not only to the beginning of my bead life making strung semi-precious pieces, but right back to my university days where I studied Geology at Imperial College London, splitting my spare time between the mineral galleries of the Natural History Museum and the Jewellery Vault at the Victoria and Albert Museum over the road!
