Item details

The bird is made from feathers, the eye and beak from card, with gold paint and black ink detail. The twigs are printed onto the background, and dried, pressed plant material. The foliage is a mixture of pressed leaves and flowers, and fabric collage flowers and leaves. The background is fabric, stretched onto hardboard. Size 7" x5"

In the 70's I sold pictures through exhibitions and craft fairs on the Wirral. Feather collage pictures were popular, but difficult to do. Feathers were 'obtained' not bought. Moulted feathers from ducks inspired this picture. I found I had 15 pictures left and decided to revamp them. The pressed flowers were a bit faded, so I replaced them with fabric flowers and leaves. The frame was updated. Limited edition - no more will be made.
