This bag is made out of a recycled black and white houndstooth tweed skirt, lined with a fantastically eccentric cotton furnishing fabric, also in black and white, that features Roman heads. It's quite hard to explain without it sounding even odder, so look at the photographs .... I like the fact that on the outside it is a classic, quite plain bag, but once you get inside it all gets a bit crazy.
There is a two-part lined pocket stitched into the outside, another pocket inside, some bright red thick cotton binding inside to strengthen the top and the handles are double stitched and long enough to wear over the shoulder.
It would be perfect to take away folded down for a weekend, as an everyday handbag or work bag (happily swallows up A4 folders), or for shopping trips. Because each of my bags started as something else (a wool kilt, a tweed jacket, a cotton shirt) they come with a unique numbered card that shows what they used to be, and where they came from – a sort of bag birth certificate.
All fabrics are pre-washed in the machine, and you can put this on a gentle wash if needed.
