I purchased a "ball" of carnelian sometime ago, recently I sliced it open and to great delight found it was a geode.
I have polished one of these slices and grown a copper bezel around it to frame it and also secure a silver bail to it. The bail has then been wound with fine silver wire to add a bit of texture.
The wonderful warm red of the carnelian is complimented by the icy white Interior with its Cuesta formations. The centre is hollow.
A gorgeous pendant that will attract comments.
7cm top to bottom, 3 cm at widest, 1cm thick.
The copper had been lacquered to resist tarnishing.
Because the copper is grown on atom by atom it gives a unique and slightly uneven edge, control over how the copper grows is quite limited but its organic growth adds interest and texture.
No chain is supplied, the bail had a big opening so your favourite chain or even a ribbon or thong could easily be added as you wish.

This stone was part of a carnelian boulder in my collection, something was not quite right about its weight though so I sliced it open to reveal the cavity within, glorious crystal growth that had I not cut it would to this day never have seen the light of day and be released to share their energy with the cosmos....
