Fabulous Polished Orthoceras Fossil Pendant
From the Devonian Age Limestone Deposits of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco
Orthoceras is a species of Extinct Marine Creature (from the Cephalopod Class) that populated our Planets Seas and Oceans during the Devonian Period – 420 – 355 million years ago
Their name means “straight horn”, which refers to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell and they are the ancestor’s of our modern-day Squid, but also closely related to the Nautilus and Cuttlefish
They could grow to more than 14 feet in length !!!
But I am not going to try and get one of those in the mail !!!
The Pendant measures 45mm in Length (not including the Bail) and 30mm Wide (at its widest point).
I have mounted it from a Sterling Silver Bail.
It is then suspended from a Silver Plated 18 inch Snake Chain.
The pendant is presented to you in a beautiful Drawstring keepsake pouch.
