I made this pouch out of a recycled skirt in the most amazing bright turquoise tweed with little threads of rust. The skirt was originally handmade so there is no label to show the make or fabric, but it is a lightweight woven tweed, rather like hessian. The colour is very striking (hours fiddling with the photo editing software to try and do it justice in the photographs here) and it is lined with a cotton shirt in blue, purple, and green stripes, and fastens with a plain blue zip
You can use this pouch for loads of different things. I use mine to bring some sort of order to all the flotsam and jetsam that swills around in the bottom of my bag. Make-up, travel cards, credit cards, odd coins, lipsticks etc. The tweed is quite thick so it would give good protection for any gadgets such as iPods.
Because each of my pouches started as something else (a wool kilt, a tweed jacket, a cotton shirt) they come with a unique numbered card that shows what they used to be, and where they came from – a sort of pouch birth certificate.
All fabrics are thoroughly washed before being reconstructed, and this pouch is machine washable on a wool setting.
