Item details

Base: 4 PLY 75% Super-wash Wool, 25% Nylon
Meterage: 400m/100g
Needle Size: 2 – 4mm needles.
Gauge (approx.) 28sts x 36 rows over 10cm/4” on 3.25mm needles.
Best used for: Awesome Socks or Mittens.
Aftercare: Machine wash at 30, with similar colours. Please do not tumble dry.

About the Base:
I lovingly refer to this base as ‘Hoof’ it’s worsted spun and really is a wonderfully strong, durable and comfortable sock yarn. I’ve tested this base to the max; my socks have withstood repeated washing and heavy wear. I am not easy on my socks. In my experience it is really hard-wearing, doesn’t felt and is well, just great.
All of my yarns are dyed in very small batches, with acid dyes and are non-repeatable colourways. I have tried to capture the colour of the yarn as accurately as possible in the photos but please remember colour calibration varies from monitor to monitor.

Good to Know:
I have not had any noticeable colour bleeding when I’ve washed my yarns, however this can happen. If you are mixing light and dark shades in your project, please be aware of this.

May Pole

All the colours of a wrapped Maypole. It’s not really known why we dance around the Maypole; it could be reminiscent of ancient pagan traditions or it could just be we’re happy to see summer return. It’s not all high jinks though, there are no less than two recorded accounts of Maypoles being pinched during the early 17th C. and the Earl of Huntingdon was ‘angered’ when trees from his estate were pilfered to use as maypole’s, in 1603. So please, Maypole responsibly.
