Silver pendant, with textured shapes and water casts.
Hill walking adventures, wild camping and tales of “The monster of the Glen” were all part of the experiences Louise had growing up. To this day, she is fascinated by the rural lowlands to barren uplands of the Scottish landscape, the history of the land and her Scottish family heritage. Sharing this love of Scotland with her family and being a patriotic Macdonald, Louise has used her recent trips to the areas to capture the beauty of the land through imagery and video, collecting tokens that can be used within her work. With the use of this imagery, she has developed a collection of work using oak wood, Somerset Fabriano (a cotton based paper) and precious metals. The mixture of these additional natural materials brings a delicate texture to her work that hold a hidden representation. This becomes clear when hearing the stories and memories that she has to share.
