This is a new take on the Nuno felting technique where I've used yarn to embellish a gorgeous, cosy and lightweight merino wool cobweb felted scarf/shawl.
This scarf/shawl has been made from around 75g of 100% superfine merino wool, and has been rolled 1,600 times, and shocked 400 times to get an incredibly lightweight and fantastically cosy daywear scarf shawl! The yarn is a handmade single ply from Gotland in Sweden, and has been Nuno felted into the wool fibre.
I recommend spot cleaning cobweb felt scarves, but they may be very carefully wash in cold water, and dried flat – a light touch for re-shaping whilst drying flat will bring them back. Ironing is recommended.
This unique scarf shawl measures:
Length approx.:174cms (68 1/2”)
Width approx.: 44cms (17”)
Please note: Measurements are approximate because the scarves I make are naturally variable due to the technique I use. I take the measurements from about the middle both length and widthways.
The price includes UK first class postage.
I love making scarves, I make and sell a lot of them through my local Artisan Markets, and The lovely Two Doors Studio in Alsager. My Chinese and Indian Nuno scarves have been really popular through the summer, and I wanted to develop the technique further - so I found this fab Swedish handmade yarn and experimented! I sent my first attempt to Two Doors Studio for feedback and they sold it!
