This is a new take on the Nuno felting technique where I've used recycled sari silk strips and felted them into a stunning and lightweight merino wool cobweb felted scarf/shawl.
This scarf/shawl has been made from around 55g of 100% superfine merino wool, and has been rolled 1,600 times, and shocked 400 times to get an incredibly lightweight and fantastically glamourous shawl for those Christmas parties! The recycled sari silk has been hand-dyed and Nuno felted into the wool fibre.
I recommend spot cleaning cobweb felt scarves, but they may be very carefully wash in cold water, and dried flat – a light touch for re-shaping whilst drying flat will bring them back. These may be ironed.
This unique scarf/shawl measures:
Length approx.:175cms (69”)
Width approx.: 33cms (13”)
Please note: Measurements are approximate because the scarves I make are naturally variable due to the technique I use. I take the measurements from about the middle both length and widthways.
Price as always, includes UK first class postage.
I love making scarves, I make and sell a lot of them through my local Artisan Markets, and The lovely Two Doors Studio in Alsager. My Chinese and Indian Nuno scarves have been really popular through the summer, and I wanted to develop the technique further - so I found some sari silk and experimented! And being able to wear it to glam up that Christmas LBD too?! Perfect!
