I went through a "doily" phase and liked the idea of re-using a doily from an antiques or charity shop and customising it to make into an accessory. Steam punk and period costume are also inspiration's and I have always looked out for items that would make an interesting centre piece when creating textiles. In this case it was the neck brooch that would normally be used for on blouses at the collar. These along with the knitted cuff creates an unusual textile accessory.
