Item details

This is a printed illustration of one of my favourite places, Derwent Valley. There is a canoeist enjoying the stillness of the water and some walkers on the bridge. A calm and serene illustration that would brighten up any space.

If you look closely on the bottom right of the image, you can see the flooded town of Ashopton, a bit of a spooky addition to the piece.

I created the illustration through scanning in a acrylic painted papers along with painted inks. I then pieced the image together digitally to create the final piece.

The image is A4 in size, measuring 29.5cm x 21cm. There is a 1.5 - 2cm border around the edge of the image, making it ideal for framing. It is hand signed in the bottom, right corner underneath the title 'Derwent Valley.'

I have my artwork digitally printed locally in Sheffield onto a 210gsm, uncoated, matte paper that retains the textures within my work.

This would make an ideal gift for someone who loves the outdoors, walking, canoeing and the surrounding countryside of Derbyshire. The addition of the flooded village would make a good conversation starter too.

I post my illustrations out in a hard backed envelope, wrapped in a cellophane envelope to ensure a safe journey to you.

I love to go walking around Derwent and it's always beautiful whether it's Summer or Winter. I always liked the idea of the village underneath the water too, I wanted to go snorkelling in the reservoir to see the murky buildings below, this was when I was about 10! I painted up some papers using blues and greens and wanted to illustrate the scene using the textures.
