Perfect for summer evenings on the beach, or add a touch of glamour at Christmas Cocktail parties, my one of a kind nuno-felted scarf is guaranteed to attract all the right attention!
Nuno felting is a technique developed in Australia in the 1990s. It involves felting fibre into woven fabrics. Here I have selected floaty Chinese silk chiffon, and used a gorgeous blend of scrumptiously soft merino wool with wild silk to create a stunningly individual scarf.
The decoration on this smaller, neater scarf is circles, which gives a different ruching effect from this fantastic felting technique. I have extended the scarf a little by felting the ends, giving a deliciously light and delicate scarf, with superb drapability. This scarf would be very neat under a jacket or coat.
This scarf can be hand washed cold, and you can iron the wool on a medium setting - I don't recomend trying to iron the silk scarf itself because of the ruching.
Length approx. 143 cms (56")
Width approx. 38 cms (15")
Please note: Measurements are approximate because the scarves I make are naturally variable due to the technique I use. I take the measurements from about the middle both length and widthways.
Price includes UK first class postage.
I love making scarves, I make and sell a lot of them through my local Artisan Markets, and The lovely Two Doors Studio in Alsager. I'd seen Nuno felting and really wanted to have a go at it, so I did! What could be better than working with my two favourite materials - wool and silk? The perfect answer to when the weather is a bit too warm for a wool scarf, but a bit too chilly to expose those shoulders! And being able to wear it to glam up that Christmas LBD too?! Perfect!
