I have forged a shape from copper sheet and this has made the support for my wrapped copper and sterling silver wirework. The central bezel is filled with my handmade swirled polymer clay and coordinating pieces of similar clay canework appear throughout the necklace. I have made some hammered copper infinity shaped links to echo the copper in the centrepiece.
The polymer clay beads in the chain have sterling silver caps, and these tie in nicely with the sterling silver oval link chain which I have used to complete the back of the piece. I have used a really good quality carabiner style clasp in sterling silver and my final step was to patinate the necklace and then polish it to a soft sheen.
The necklace is 18 inches long.
Sent to you in an attractive tissue lined box together with my business card, by first class recorded post.
I love the flowing feel of wrapped wirework. It has an organic feeling to it and combines so well with mixed media elements. I enjoy the challenge of making a piece where several techniques come together, such as polymer clay canework, metalsmithing and wirewrapping.
