I have thrown this vase on my potters’ wheel with red earthenware clay. I like to add a little detail with a 'collar' and then when the clay was leather hard I impressed a pattern on the collar.
After the biscuit firing I dipped the pot in a tin glaze which I decorated prior to giving it a second -or glaze firing in the kiln

I wanted the decoration of this vase to be ‘low key’ so that the red of the roses was not dominated by the pattern on the vase as you can see in the photo. I have taken 2 photos of the vase without flowers so that you can see the decoration close up.

This would make a lovely gift for a friend or relative who enjoys displaying fresh flowers in their home.
