This beautiful pen is hand turned in my workshop from a highly figured piece of selected, spalted maple. The maple was left in a humid atmosphere for several months and allowed to rot for a while. After drying it out it was then pressure treated to stabilise it into a usable piece that was then cut to size and turned.

The pen was made using highest quality parts that are platinum plated and takes a Parker style refill. The spalted maple is coated with a durable finish that is easily wiped clean and will not tarnish or flake.

Supplied with a presentation box and drawstring pouch. The photographs are of the pen that you are purchasing.

I had some ordinary looking maple laying around for a while and was not sure how I was going to make use of it. After a trip to the woodpile I found some rotten pieces of ash at the bottom and thought it would be nice to use the natural fungus that had built up to spalt the maple. It was a long wait to get effect I wanted but as you can see, the end result justified the wait.
