This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.

A Bald Eagle on an American Flag background.

I've used strong blue and red glass for the flag. The brown and white glass for the eagle is very streaky for a feather effect and the beak, bright yellow so it gleams. I've used a millefiori bead for the eye to twinkle.

This is 22cm x 18cm and is framed for strength and neatness with twisted wire. It hangs from a strong silver chain securely attached by solder to either side of the top.

It is quite heavy so would be better hung from a permanent hook but I do, as always provide a strong suction for hanging stuck to the window glass.

I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.

I originally made this for a commission in 2013 and had totally forgotten about my design until 4th July this year when I posted the picture on my Facebook page to celebrate American Independence Day. Was so pleased with the reaction I decided to make another of this very striking suncatcher.
