Wood Turned Slimline Pen made from Pine Cones

Wood Turned Slimline Pen made from Pine Cones
Love this

This is a wood turned slimline pen using a chrome pen kit that I turned on my lathe using two pine cones. After turning the cones and sanding to 12000 grit , there were some natural shallow dips left in the cone nearest to the nib. As a filler in these dips, I have used silver and red glitter, which the photos do not show very well. The pen was finished with many coats of thin and medium CA glue (super glue), and finally again polished to 12000 grit, giving it a glass like finish.
Pine cone pens always stir interest as they are unusual, and look superb. This one also has some bling.
My pens are supplied in a black velvet pen pouch.

I have always found pine cones fascinating, and use them as display items on my craft show table. Squirrels had already eaten the seeds from these cones, which I collected from beneath the pine tree in my local woods. A real pleasure to make a thing of beauty from something usually neglected.
