I heated and hammered a piece of copper and then bound it with sterling silver and waxed cotton cord to make a support for all the pretty beads. I have a collection of pressed glass beads gathered over many years and I selected those that best depict the demure wild flowers I see on my woodland walks. Silver toned leaf dangles add some contrast against the green leaves. I made the chain from sterling silver with some copper wire wrapped and beaded sections. I have antiqued the metal and this gives the necklace a vintage look. I have finished the ends with a really good quality sterling silver carabiner clasp.
The necklace measures 18 inches round the neck. The flowered central section holds it’s curved shape, whilst the chain back section is flexible and comfortable.
Sent to you in an attractive tissue lined box together with my business card, by first class recorded post.
I’ve always been captivated by wild flowers. As a child I would walk with my mother and she would tell me the old fashioned country names of the flowers we found.
A hedgerow, or a woodland margin in spring can be full of tiny flowering delights. Red and white campion, speedwells and bluebells and the tiny pink flowers of herb Robert can be found. Making this necklace has reminded me of those childhood walks.
