This pretty, rich looking red bracelet has been made by hand using the Japanese technique kumihimo.
A mixture of different shades of reds and bronze size 6 miyuki seed beads have been threaded onto 8 strands of 1mm burgundy red satin cord. All of the cords have then been brought together using the above technique.
Some of the beads are a solid opaque colour, others are translucent and some have an almost frosted effect, giving this bracelet a really interesting look.
The cords have been finished with gold plated end caps with an integrated hook and eye clasp.
The width of the beaded braid is approximately 10mm (3/8") so is a chunky style bracelet that is an ideal fit for a 16.5cm (6 1/2") wrist.
Kumihimo is Japanese for 'gathered threads' and was first done as a form of finger-loop braiding that has since evolved into a form of braiding that can be done using only cords, or with beads added into each knot.
The rich, opulant look of these beads.
