This is a unique piece of textile art that combines the textures of mixed media to include paper, linen and cottons. It combines a wide range of textile techniques including quilting, free machine and hand embroidery.

Perfect art gift suitable for any occasion.

This small scrappy mini quilt is made from strips of fabrics and handmade paper using different textures and different weaves in a range of fibres. These fabric strips are quilted with free machine embroidery with wavy lines using shades of brown threads.

The quilt has three mini embroidered square panels. The fabric for each small square panel is created by sewing many small fabric pieces onto a foundation fabric and these are secured using a doodle style. free machine embroidery stitch. These squares are created using cream coloured fabrics and papers including calico, linen, cotton, scrim & silk. Each small square has been embellished with free machine embroidery and hand embroidered seed heads.

Each square panel is hand stitched onto the quilted panel. The panel is lined and blanket stitched around the edges using hand dyed thread and hand embroidery.

The scrappy mini quilt may be hung by a cord that is hand made from hand dyed threads and is attached and adorned with small buttons.

The mini scrappy quilt measures 38 x 14cm (15 x 5.5") and each small embroidered panel measures approximately 7 to 7.5cm (3") square.

Fabric scraps and mixed media create the foundations for my embroidery; hand dyed fabrics are used to create the textures and hand dyed threads are embroidered into my work to add definition using both machine and hand embroidery.

The heart of my work is created from very small pieces that are joined together to create a rugged background texture, this represents how our lives are crammed with many things that we should bring together to enhance the quality of life
