This pretty, sparkly bracelet will add a bit of glitz to any occasion and has been hand made using the Japanese technique kumihimo.
The beads featured are cut miyuki seed beads in seafoam lined crystal AB and berry lined topaz AB (pale green and golden bronze). The 'cut' element of them means that the outer edge of each bead has been cut into an hexagonal shape, giving them a faceted look with lots of sparkle. The AB coating on the seed beads means they will show hints of other colours as you move.
These beads have been strung onto 8 strands of cream coloured S-Lon cord which have been brought together using the above technique to create a striped design.
The cords have been finished with a gold plated hook and eye clasp.
The width of the beaded braid is approximately 6mm (1/4") and the bracelet will be a snug but not tight fit on a16.5cm (6 1/2") wrist.
Kumihimo is Japanese for 'gathered threads' and was first done as a form of finger-loop braiding that has since evolved into a form of braiding that can be done using only cords, or with beads added into each knot.
I love working with seed beads and the sparkle on these really caught my eye.
