You made it to the top of Helvellyn! What a view.
Now it's time to pick a route back down.
Better get a skip on, there's some weather on its way.
80cm x 83cm
Mounted on heavy chenille
Being a natural fibre, wool forms patterns that are repeated in nature, such as cloud formations, ripples of water, rolling landscape, grain of wood or contours of stone. I’ve used special wool dyes in combination with the natural colours of the wool. This piece predominantly uses the natural colours of the wool. Herdwick sheep are charismatic hardy mountain sheep with a wonderful range of colours in their fleeces. These range from all shades of grey to black, brown and cream
I love walking the Lake District fells but the weather can change dramatically. Herdwick wool lends itself to sinister weather effects. I was inspired to make this piece after persuading a friend who was afraid of heights to walk up Helvellyn with me. It was a challenge and she swore at me a lot but when we’d accomplished it the elation was amazing.
