Three new birds have flown into my shop - Two Turtle Doves, a Cormorant and a Blackbird sitting in ivy!
These charming little birds can be often seen perching on the tips of a gorse bush. This one was seen at Redgrave and Lopham Fen in Suffolk.
The male has a striking red breast, which looks particularly fetching against the golden gorse flowers.
He is called a Stonechat because his calls has the rather harsh sound of two stones being clanked together!
This is a limited edition linocut print.
Each print is hand carved, hand printed and unique. Due to the nature of linocuts, each will vary slightly according the pressure, amount of ink and paper.
Limited edition of 50 (plus 5 Artist's Proofs).
Image size 15cm by 10cm.
Each print is signed, titled and numbered by the artist.
Each print is packed with cellophane and archival tissue, has a board backing, is carefully wrapped and posted flat in a stiff cardboard envelope.
The Stonechat is a little bird that likes heathland and open country, and especially loves gorse. He can often be seen perching on the highest point of a bush trying to attract the females. His call is a harsh sound, like two stones being clanged together hence his name.
I often see them while walking on Redgrave and Lopham Fen, my local Wildlife Trust, where they perch on the tips of the bushes demanding to be seen and heard.
