The story of transfer enamels is the story of mass production. If you employ an artist to paint a picture to decorate the enamel item then your production process is slow, the artist is temperamental, so difficult to work with and keen to 'do his own thing'; the work[place is disrupted, the quality of the output is variable, technically and because the artist will be unable to exactly match each painting. Employing more artists only increases the variables as well as the costs. The answer is to employ one artist to paint one picture and then reproduce it as often as it is needed. Bad for the artist, good for the employer and less expensive for the customer. For me, transfers are an iteresting technical challenge; they easily burn out but it to be able to say I can do them.
