This is Marianne, she is a new size of doll from a refined pattern with smaller proportions. Standing 9 inches tall she is dainty addition to my collection. She is made from tea dyed calico with a hand painted and hand embroidered face. Her hair is styled brunette wool tops and she is softly stuffed with lavender and rose buds added for a gentle scent. She also had a piece of rose quartz in her stuffing for love.

She is dressed in Liberty Tana Lawn, a very fine cotton fabric from Liberty in London. The fabric is Bobo, based on the embroidery of Elizabethan dresses. This colourway is blue and grey with a hint of lime green. She has knickers and underskirts in coodinating cotton and a final lace trim petticoat. Her dress is finished with organza ribbon and tiny buttons, she also has little leather shoes. She sports a tiny sampler style lavender sachet in matching colours.

She makes a lovely companion and can sit quietly on a chair or hang from a brass ring to her back. She is charming and sweet with a calm nature.

Please enjoy browsing and should you buy a doll she will be packaged in an organza bag. I have been given literally hundreds and will use them until they run out rather than let them go to landfill. Also I have been asked why I don't often repeat combinations of fabric with the dolls. It is because I tend to buy remnant stock where I can, tiny pieces of fabric that are too small for most people to use. So often I have only enough to make one doll. Liberty Lawn is a lovely fine cotton that is a delight to work with. This pattern is Bobo, which is based on the embroidery styles of Elizabethan ladies' dresses. Decorative stylised leaf and flower patterns were popular on garments during this time. Marianne's design was led by the fabric, she just had to have dark hair and blue eyes. I hope you like her.
