The Kela cushion covers are a large motif tropical banana leaf print in deep green and aqua. The cushion covers are reversible with deep green stripes on the back.
The Kela print is based on a heritage block print motif the inspiration for which I found on my travels in Kerala, India. The banana leaf is often used in the south of India instead of a plate when serving a typical thali lunch. Completely waste free, the leaf with the leftover food is then fed to the cows! It is also used for food preparation. I have spotted these plants often on my travels and I hope this print evokes even a little of that tropical summer feeling!
Hand block printed the design is first hand carved into wood blocks which are then used to stamp the design onto the textiles. This design is a two colour design and so used two blocks. One for the outline and one for the colour fill.
Due to the handmade process variation in the colour and print work should be expected.
