You will be purchasing a voucher for one person to make one handmade pen. I am offering here the experience of selecting timber pieces from the continually changing stock and turning these into a beautiful, unique and fully functional pen using a wood turning lathe and various hand held tools. All training is given and the process takes approximately 45 minutes. The activity is supervised one to one throughout. This voucher entitles the holder to make a unique slim line ball point pen from a single type of hardwood which can be finished as the natural wood or dyed in one of the coloured dyes available. Other options to upgrade to multiple wood or exotic timber e.g. 5000 year old bog oak or Scottish whisky barrel are usually available on the day. The event will take place in Grandad's Workshop located in my Margate workshop. This offer is open to adults and children aged 8 and above and no previous experience in wood turning is required. I will always do my best to accommodate customers with disabilities. I have an enhanced DBS cert for your peace of mind. Please contact me if you have any concerns.

I have always had an inquisitive mind and had a need to know how things are made and why they are made that way. The best way to understand how to do something is to have a go. Making a mistake of two along the way is almost inevitable but there is always something to learn from every outcome. This masterclass class in pen turning uses my skills and knowledge developed over many years of wood turning. I have simplified the processes to enable a complete novice to achieve a professional result in a single session. In a nutshell I have already made the mistakes so you don't have to. Nearly everyone who comes to the workshop to make a pen starts off with a frown of concentration and leaves with a large (sometimes smug) grin because many have created an item of beauty and quality that they thought was beyond them.
