This pretty monochrome style bracelet has been made by hand using the Japanese technique kumihimo.
The beads used are 8/0 miyuki seed beads in a salt and pepper mix of blacks, whites and greys. Some of the beads are opaque and others are silver-lined or crystal which gives an added interest to the standard monochrome look.
All of the beads have been standed onto 8 strands of black S-Lon cord, then been brought together using the above technique.
The bracelet has been finished with silver plated end caps and fastens with a silver plated lobster claw clasp and heart chain extender.
Including the extender chain, this bracelet will fit an 16.5 - 21.5cm (6 1/2 - 8 1/2") wrist.
The width of the completed beaded braid is approximately 7mm (1/4"), so is not too chunky a finish.
Kumihimo is Japanese for 'gathered threads' and was first done as a form of finger-loop braiding, it has since evolved into a form of braiding that can be done using only cords, or with beads added into each knot.
