This bookmark design is a collage featuring an illustration from The Henry Irving Shakespeare by Gordon Browne. The background is a beautiful marbled endpaper from an 1809 edition of William Shakespeare's works.

On the reverse of the bookmark is printed the quotation -

Titania:
First, rehearse your song by rote,
To each word a warbling note:
Hand in hand, with fairy grace,
Will we sing, and bless this place.

Measures 5.5 cm x 17.3 cm.

The bookmark is professionally printed on 400gsm board with a matte laminated surface for durability.

I have always loved an illustrated classic and imagined many a character brought to life by the words I was reading. A vivid imagination and a love of the beautiful marbled endpapers in many of the bindings made me dream of how the two could be collaged together and started me searching for the perfect juxtaposition of patterns and pictures with literary quotations.
