I made this pouch out of some navy cotton chino trousers, and it is lined with blue striped cotton taken from a deckchair. There is a bright yellow and blue strip on the front (makes it easy to find in luggage and beach bags) and it fastens with a contrasting metal zip. The original trouser pocket is stitched into the design, to give an extra compartment on the front.
You can use this pouch for loads of different things. I use mine to bring some sort of order to all the flotsam and jetsam that swills around in the bottom of my bag. Make-up, travel cards, odd coins, lipsticks etc. It will be good for ipods and other small bits of technology you may have. It would make a good travel wallet, for passports and boarding cards, or to put currency in.
Because each of my pouches started as something else (a wool kilt, a tweed jacket, a cotton shirt) they come with a unique numbered card that shows what they used to be, and where they came from – a sort of pouch birth certificate. And all the fabrics are put through the machine before the stitching starts, so when you come back from holiday you can put it in the wash with everything else.

Handmade in Hammersmith Pouch no. 432
Something a bit weird and subliminal going on here - it occurs to me that this striking colour combination is VERY SIMILAR to that of Ikea's branding, and probably no coincidence that we spent quite a long time there only a few weeks ago, finding a new storage unit for the Handmade in Hammersmith fabrics ...
