Item details
Seaham in County Durham is famous for it's seaglass, which dates from 1853-1921. Meaning that this piece of seaglass could have been tumbling around the North Sea for more than 150 years!
Seaham's beaches are a rich source of seaglass because a local glass factory would pour its waste glass into the sea. This waste glass has been polished by the waves into beautiful pieces of seaglass.
I try to visit Seaham a every few months. I love walking along the beach and looking for seaglass. Seaham's huge, crashing waves are very different to the rather timid waves that we get on the shoreline of Morecambe Bay. This pendant reminds me of the sunny days that I have spent in this lovely part of England.
