This is a original hand drawn, hand etched and hand pressed etching of a wren.
The wren lives in the hedge in our garden and I can hear it chirruping outside the kitchen window.
No one edition will be the same such is the nature of the medium. I begin the process by cutting and polishing a steel plate, rolling on the wax resist then etching a line using a sharp instrument. Then I use acid to add tonal values. All my etchings are inked up and hand printed by me at the Dundee Print Studios.
I studied for a degree at Glasgow School of Art in the 1980s and have only now returned to printmaking again.
