Scilly Seascape, Hand Dyed Rare Breed Felted Wool and Shells.

The rare breed sheeps fleece which I use for hand spinning wool can be dyed into the most wonderful colours which reflect elements of nature.

The Scilly Seascape has been created using hand dyed Wensleydale curls, White faced Woodland and Shetland fleece. I have felted shells and sea glass into the seascape.

The felted piece is approximately12cm square and it is mounted in an ivory card mount and matching ivory square frame. The frame measures approximately 23cm, and the Seascape is recessed within it.
I do not include glass due to the difficulty in posting this but the piece looks very effective without.

I have hand dyed rare breed fleece to spin my own wool for a number of years. Whilst I was watching a pan of curly Wensleydale fleece absorbing the turquoise dye I saw the same hues I might see in the waves around the Isles of Scilly.
So I taught myself to felt and discovered that with care and patience,I could incorporate shells and sea glass into the finished piece.
