BRITISH AND HANDMADE
INDIVIDUAL TURNED ITEMS WHICH REVEAL THE TRUE BEAUTY OF WOOD AND NOW SOME HAVE ENAMELLED CABOUCHONS FOR EXTRA EFFECT, COME INSIDE AND SEE WHAT i MEAN !
Christmas tree and Snowman turned from beautifully figured English yew from a fallen tree on a farm in Saffron Walden. The tree is 120mm tall and is 52mm at its widest point. The snowman’s head and body is turned from yew and he stands 133mm tall to the top of his panga hat and is 60mm at the fattest part of his tum, with his purple heart nose sticking out a little further than this. His mouth, eyes and buttons are pyrographed. After being sanded smooth the tree is finished in clear lacquer and the snowman with beeswax to a high shine. IMPORTANT! Although fun, these are not toys and should be kept out of the way of small children.
The grain features’ of English Yew lends itself really well to being made into these Christmas pieces and they are sure to bring joy to your Christmas display for many years to come. Indeed they seem to go out of the shop really quickly. I make these when the wood is ready and place them in the shop.
