BRITISH AND HANDMADE
INDIVIDUAL TURNED ITEMS WHICH REVEAL THE TRUE BEAUTY OF WOOD AND NOW SOME HAVE ENAMELLED CABOUCHONS FOR EXTRA EFFECT, COME INSIDE AND SEE WHAT i MEAN !
Chunky and beautifully grained English Ash bowl with its bark left on around the rim to give that natural look. It stands on its own foot and is 61mm tall and 185mm at its widest point after sanding the piece it was sealed with beeswax to a high shine and then the bark was treated with two coats of clear lacquer to seal it.
In order to make bowls like this one has to cut the blank as if slicing a wedge off the outside of the tree and then reverse turn it so that the bowl is turned into the heartwood. This method means one gets this lovely natural scoop shape which is very pleasing to look at and makes the bowl very tactile. This would enhance any lounge display unit and is sure to be a talking point as to how it was made. Would make a lovely 5th anniversary or new home gift.
