Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
This glasses case has been stitched from a panel of patchwork featuring an appliqued kite motif and embellished with hand embroidery.
Scraps of colour coordinated fabric, some recycled - others off-cuts from other craft projects have been machined in a strip patchwork onto a backing fabric. A felt kite motif has been added in the centre of the patchwork panel. The kite string, tail and frame and some daisies, in the foreground, have been added by hand embroidery in cotton threads.
The case is edged in blanket stitch in white crochet cotton.
The case is lined in a blue and white floral fabric - backed with iron-on interfacing. The reverse of the cover is a blue and white striped 'canvas' fabric. The case is seemed with blanket stitch in a white crochet cotton for durability. The case closes with a crocheted loop - using the same white cotton thread, over a grey button.
Dimensions (excluding seems):
Depth - 17 cm approx
Width - 8.5 cm approx
A new batch of experimentation with patchwork backgrounds and some simple applique motifs embellished by hand embroidery.
