This particular painting is my own take on another image I took close up of an architectural detail on part of an exterior wall on a building in Glasgow city centre. The architectural details on this particular building are done in the style of Charles Rennie Macintosh. I hope this is obvious in the painting. Like most of my previous paintings I have chosen black and white to make the painting stand out and be as striking as possible. None of the images I took of this piece of architectural detail were straight on, so I used the images I had to create the painting I envisioned. This is the first time I have done this with all other paintings being identical to the original photograph. I like to make sure the painting is symmetrical which I think is important to the balance of the painting.
